My Summer Days

Your all-in-one trip planner.

Build your itinerary, manage your budget and plan together with the people you’re travelling with. Keep bookings, tickets, to-dos and packing lists in the same place, with a planning guide to help you work out what to do next.

A trip being planned on the website. Capri and Rome go in and the days fill up. The map opens and goes from Zurich to Capri, Rome and Venice, drawing the journey between them. The checks find a tight change between the check-out and the ferry, fixed in one click. The train tickets are added and the journeys marked booked. Maya and Tom join, and Maya moves a visit. On To do the ferry’s booking reference goes in and the rest is handed to Maya, and on the shared packing list you take the plug adaptors and pack the swimsuits. The guide shows every planning step ticked off, and a view-only link to the trip is made and copied.

Add your places

What is My Summer Days?

A trip planner that puts every day of your trip on a timetable, hour by hour. Add the places you’re visiting and what you want to do in each, and invite the people you’re going with to plan it with you. The same trip keeps your bookings, tickets, packing lists and spending, on the web and in the app for iPhone and Android.

The website, with the sample trip: its timetable, an item’s time being changed, Daydream, files, budget, To do, people and map.

The whole trip, hour by hour, with the checks beside it.

Plan

Add your places, then fill in each day.

Each place gets its own colour across the dates you’re there. Add activities, meals, stays and travel to a day. Each one takes up as much of the timetable as it lasts, so you can see how full the day is.

  • Places in colour

Each place has its own colour on the timetable. Drag either end to stay a night longer or shorter.

  • Sized by time

Each item is as tall as it is long, so a two-hour lunch takes twice the room of a one-hour visit.

  • Saved ideas

Keep a list of things you might do in each place, and drag one onto a day when there’s time.

  • Booked items

Mark an item as booked and it’s locked in place, so it can’t be moved by mistake.

Your trip on a map, with the travel time between items.

Open a place to list its items in order, with how long it takes to walk or drive from one to the next. Give an item an address and it appears on the map.

The Map button on the timetable opens the trip on a map, from Zurich to Capri, Rome and Venice. Rome opens with its items numbered in order and the Pantheon's details on its pin. Monday is chosen, the walking time between the stay and the Pantheon shows the route through the streets, and then the drive. Trevi Fountain has no address yet; Trevi is typed in, the suggestion is picked and saved, and the item drops onto the map with its own number.

Checks

Checks for problems while you plan.

My Summer Days checks the trip as you plan it for things that won’t work, such as a connection that’s too tight, a night with nowhere to stay, or a day with no time to eat. Each check says what’s wrong, and many come with a button that fixes it.

One day of a trip, with the warning the checks give about the change from ferry to train.

Daydream

Daydream answers questions about your trip and makes changes when you ask.

Describe a trip in a few lines and Daydream drafts the days. On a trip you’re already planning, you can ask it questions, such as whether a day is too busy. You can also ask it to make changes, such as filling a free evening, giving bookings to people on the trip, setting a budget or adding to the packing list. Every change it makes is listed, and you can undo any of them.

Asking Daydream about a trip to Rome: whether Tuesday is too busy, dinner near the Pantheon, handing the Rome stay to Maya and the Vatican tickets to Tom, a budget, and two things for the packing list, then undoing one of them.

Ask about the trip

  • Start from a description

Say where you’re going, when, who’s coming and what you like, and get a day-by-day plan.

  • Ideas from other travellers

Suggestions come from what travellers post, not only the best-known sights.

  • Mention with @

Type @ to name a day, a booking or a person, so Daydream knows what you mean.

  • Undo any change

Each change is listed as it’s made. Undo one, or everything from that request.

Around the plan

Ideas, people, bookings, packing and money, kept with the trip.

These open beside the timetable and use what’s already in the plan, such as who’s coming, where you’re staying, what’s booked and what it cost.

Ideas for every place

Everyone on the trip can add ideas for each place and mark the ones they’d like to do.

Find things to do

Browse tours and tickets for each place, with ratings and photos, and save the ones you like as ideas.

Put it on a day

Choose a day for an idea. See what else is on that day, then use the first free time or drag it where you want.

Try another version

Keep a snapshot of the plan to try something else, like a rainy-day Rome. Change it as much as you like, and the plan stays as it is.

Compare day by day

See which days a snapshot changes, then open a day to see what’s new, moved or gone.

Make it the plan

Bring one day over, or make the whole snapshot the plan for everyone. The old plan is kept as a snapshot.

Plan together

See who else has the trip open, which items they’re looking at, and changes as they’re made.

Invite who’s coming

Invite people by email as editors, who can change the plan, or viewers, who can only see it. Add someone without an account as a guest, so you can split costs with them.

Who changed what

Every change and who made it, newest first. You can put the trip back to an earlier version.

Share a link

Make a link anyone can open to see the trip without changing it. Addresses, notes, files and costs aren’t shown.

To do before you go

A to-do list made from your plan, covering stays to book, tickets to add and things to check. Much of it ticks itself off as you fill the trip in.

What each booking needs

Each booking shows what’s missing, such as the reference, the address or the tickets, and you can add it from the list.

Share out the jobs

Give any to-do to someone on the trip. It shows with their name, and they get a notification.

Packing lists

Make packing lists for the trip. Share one with the people you choose, or keep it to yourself. Only the people on a list can see it.

A planning guide

A short set of steps for planning the trip in order. Each step ticks itself off as the trip fills in.

Spending in any currency

Enter what you spent in the currency you paid in. It’s converted at that day’s rate and keeps that rate, so totals don’t change later.

Split costs

Say who paid and who it was for, and split it equally or by amount. Guests can be included.

Settle up

See who owes whom and how much, and mark it paid once they’ve paid.

Tickets and files

Link each ticket or confirmation to its item. Download the trip and they open on your phone without signal.

Print it, or save a PDF

A cover page, an overview of the whole trip, then each day in order.

iPhone and Android
